RGV outer blade ring 275B with sharpener, code 1003.

The outer ring is the cover ring fitted on the outer face of the blade on RGV slicers, for models with a 275 mm blade (275 series). In this version the ring is paired with the sharpener, the unit with two grinding wheels (a coarse one for sharpening and a fine one for finishing the edge) that is brought into contact with the blade via the dedicated lever to resharpen the cutting edge without removing the blade from the machine.

It should be replaced when the ring is dented, scratched or no longer perfectly aligned with the blade, or when the sharpener's grinding wheels are worn and no longer sharpen the blade's edge correctly.
