The pin is the small shaft on which the cross knife is mounted and rotates against the perforated plate: it transmits drive to the cutting set and keeps it properly aligned. A worn or loose pin causes uneven cutting and vibration. Replace it when it is worn, scored or bent.
Specific to Fama size 22 mincers in the "new type" version: make sure your machine has this version (different from the old type) before purchasing.
