The two gaskets sit above and below the sealing bar and ensure an airtight seal of the chamber during the vacuum cycle (VAC function), gentle sealing (Soft mode) and simple sealing (SEAL) of bags. With use they compress and harden, losing elasticity: when they no longer seal perfectly, the lid stops holding vacuum or bag sealing becomes incomplete, which is the sign they need replacing.
