The lever operates the piston push mechanism that forces the meat mixture toward the outlet nozzle while filling casings. It engages via the 16 square connection and is secured with an M10 thread. Replace it when it is bent, the square end is worn and no longer transmits force effectively, or it comes loose from its seat.
