The piston slides inside the stuffer's cylinder and, pushed by the worm screw, compresses the meat mixture towards the nozzle for filling the casings. The perimeter gasket seals the gap between the piston and the cylinder wall, preventing the product from rising up along the sides during the push stroke. Replacement is needed when the gasket is worn and no longer seals properly, or when the piston is scratched, deformed or damaged.
