The collar (flange) on the outer ring allows the bearing to be easily mounted and centered in its seat on the pulley, ensuring correct alignment during rotation. On a slicer, the pulley bearings support the shaft that transmits motion to the blade: as they wear, they generate noise, vibration, excessive radial or axial play, and can cause irregular blade operation. Replace them as soon as these symptoms appear, to avoid damage to connected components.
