The blade cover (blade guard) is the protection that covers the non-cutting edge of the slicer blade, serving a safety function: it shields the hands during cleaning and sharpening operations and secures the blade area when the machine is at rest.
This spare part is specific to the Berkel Red Line 250 slicer (250 mm blade). On the Red Line range the blade cover is designed to be removable with a quick-release system, allowing thorough cleaning of the blade and the inside of the machine.
It should be replaced when warped, cracked, with worn fasteners or no longer stable: a damaged blade cover no longer provides proper protection and must be replaced for safety reasons.
