The blade-cover tie rod is the small threaded rod that fastens and holds the blade guard (the safety cover protecting the non-cutting edge of the blade) in place on Fama gravity slicers mod. 250/300. It corresponds to exploded-view reference 15 on the spare-parts diagram.

Although a small component, it performs an important safety function: it keeps the blade guard firmly clamped against the blade edge, preventing play or shifting during use and cleaning. A tie rod with a stripped, bent or worn thread can no longer clamp the blade cover correctly, compromising the guard and therefore operator safety; in such cases it should be replaced.

It is fitted by screwing the tie rod into its seat to lock the blade-guard disc/cover; when changing the blade or during routine maintenance it is worth checking the condition of its thread.
