The blade-guard tie rod is the threaded rod that secures and tensions the blade guard on the Fama 275/300 gravity slicer. Screwing into the machine body, it keeps the blade guard firmly locked in place: the guard covers the non-cutting edge of the blade, so this is a safety-related component, holding the protective carter in position during use and cleaning.

Over time the thread can strip or wear and the rod can bend, leaving play: when this happens the blade guard no longer stays properly locked, and correct retention is restored by replacing the tie rod.
