The bone saw band is the continuous loop blade that runs on the machine's wheels and cuts meat and bone; the "length" is the outer perimeter of the band, i.e. the size needed to fit the specific machine, while the "height" is the measurement from the tooth tip to the back of the band. Hardened C75 steel is the material typically used for band saw blades thanks to its elasticity and fatigue resistance. The band should be replaced when the teeth are worn or blunted, when it cuts unevenly or comes off the wheel track, or when visible cracks appear along the back of the band.
