In dual-wheel sharpener assemblies, the medium grit works paired with the coarse-grit (or fine-grit) wheel: the first grinds and restores the profile of the cutting edge, the second finishes it and removes the burr. Always check that the dimensions (50x9x6) and grit type match those of the wheel being replaced.
When to replace it: when the stone is worn, glazed or chipped, or when sharpening no longer revives the blade edge. A worn wheel will not restore the cut and can damage the edge. Suitable for Rheninghaus slicers and other machines fitted with emery wheels of these same dimensions and hole size.
