The coarse grit is used for the first sharpening stage, the one that restores the blade edge by removing material; the finish is then completed with the fine-grit emery wheel paired on the sharpener assembly.

Always check that all three dimensions (Ø 52 × thickness 8 × hole 10) match the emery wheel fitted on your machine: the 10 mm hole and 8 mm thickness determine the correct fit on the sharpener pin. Replace the wheel when the abrasive profile is worn, chipped or glazed (shiny and hard), or when the blade no longer sharpens properly despite several passes: these are the typical symptoms of a spent emery wheel.
