Safety shield between the hand and the blade during slicing: mandatory component, to be replaced if broken or missing. Hole centre distance 14.9 cm (measurement to check for compatibility). The sliding sleeve (canotto sottoguida) runs along the guide rail under the slicer's food carriage: the internal bearing lets the carriage slide smoothly back and forth during cutting, while the built-in lock allows the carriage to be held in place when needed.
Replace it when the carriage slides jerkily, with excessive friction or noise (worn bearing), when there is excessive side play, or when the lock no longer holds the carriage firmly in the set position.
