This is the plastic gear (nylon/PTFE) that is part of the Kolossal slicer's motion transmission unit, one of the sacrificial components designed to wear out before the metal parts, protecting the rest of the mechanism and reducing noise and vibration. It is fitted with 6 mm diameter shock-absorbing pins, inserted into the gear's holes to cushion impact and dampen contact between the teeth during operation.
