The drive pin ('aghetto') is the small cylindrical pin that couples the gear to its shaft inside the mincer's gearbox. It belongs to the size 22 mincer gear set ('serie ingranaggi 22'), the gear group used on size 22 meat mincers, and its job is to lock gear and shaft together so torque can be transferred from the motor to the auger.

This is a small but essential component: if the drive pin is worn, deformed or broken, the gear is no longer securely locked to the shaft and starts to slip, causing loss of drive, abnormal noise in the gearbox and, in more severe cases, the mincer stops grinding even though the motor keeps running.
