This is the drive gear that meshes with the worm screw of the gearmotor and transmits motion to the planetary assembly, driving the rotation of the attachment (whisk, dough hook, flat beater). It is a wear part and, on many models, it also acts as a safety element: in the event of an overload or a jammed attachment, it fails before the more expensive components, protecting the motor and the main gears.
