(15) double gear

The double gear is a component of the reduction gearbox on Fama meat mincers models 12, 22 and 32. It is a two-tier toothed wheel: on one side it meshes with the pinion connected to the motor, and on the other it transmits motion, with the necessary reduction, to the auger shaft that pushes the meat toward the plate. This reduction stage is what lets the motor spin at high speed while the auger runs at the correct speed and torque for grinding.

When the gear's teeth wear down, chip or break, from impacts, overload, or accidentally grinding bones, motion transmission between motor and auger starts to slip: you may notice metallic noise, unusual vibration, or the auger slowing down or stopping even with the motor running. In these cases, replacing the double gear restores correct motion transmission.
