Calendered side abrasive band for the Sirman PPJ 6 potato peeler (6 kg load capacity). It is the abrasive lining covering the inner wall of the peeling chamber: while the rotating plate spins the potatoes, the band's abrasive surface removes the skin by friction. The calendering gives the band a ready-made curvature to fit the cylindrical wall of the chamber.

On the PPJ 6 the abrasive walls are designed to be easily replaced: this is a normal consumable. The band should be changed when the abrasive grit has worn down or smoothed out: typical signs are increasingly long peeling times, potatoes coming out with skin residue and the need to extend cycles, wasting more product. With a new band the machine returns to its original peeling times.
