Klixon 4CR-650 (Sensata Technologies) starting relay switch, 5.1 A, for OMAS slicer motor.
This is a current-type relay that manages the start-up of the single-phase motor: the coil is wired in series with the motor's run winding, and the normally-open contacts are in series with the start winding. At start-up, the high inrush current closes the contacts and engages the start winding/capacitor; once the motor reaches running speed the current drops below the drop-out threshold (4.2 A) and the relay opens the circuit, disconnecting the start winding and leaving only the run winding energized.
When the relay fails, the slicer motor won't start, hums without starting, or repeatedly trips the thermal protection: in these cases it needs to be replaced.
