The sharpener lid is the cover that protects the grinding wheel assembly of the sharpener built into the slicer, shielding it from dust and dirt when not in use and reducing the risk of accidental contact with the abrasive wheels.

Replace it when it is broken, chipped or no longer fastens correctly onto the sharpener body, a condition that exposes the grinding wheels to dust and cutting residue.
