Safety shield between the hand and the blade during slicing: mandatory component, to be replaced if broken or missing. Hole centre distance 14.9 cm (measurement to check for compatibility). The BLC (sliding carriage lock) system on RGV slicers lets you release the food tray and its support for easy access underneath during cleaning; for safety, release is only possible when the thickness adjustment dial is set to "0", with the blade fully guarded. The knob is the part you screw/unscrew to lock or release the carriage in this system.
It should be replaced when it is loose, has worn threading, or is broken, as it will no longer properly secure the carriage during cutting.
