- Function: stops and returns the product carriage
This is the spring that acts on the slicer's product carriage, the sliding tray the food rests on during cutting, ensuring it stops or returns correctly at the end of its travel along the rails. With use it loses elasticity, stretches or breaks: when this happens the carriage no longer stops cleanly at the end of its travel, moves jerkily, or tends to drift on its own, compromising both safety and cutting consistency. It should be replaced with a spring of the same length and tension to restore correct carriage movement.
