The auger is the helical screw that pushes the meat towards the perforated plate and knife, ensuring a constant flow of product during grinding; the pin connects it to the gearbox shaft, transmitting rotation. On Sirman Denver meat grinders, the auger is designed to limit product overheating during processing and to allow reverse rotation in case of jamming.
Replacement is needed when the pin is worn or stripped (free spinning, no motion transmission) or when the screw shows wear, dents or excessive play that compromises grinding.
