This is a mechanical, manually-wound timer (wound up to 15 minutes by turning the knob): the balance-wheel movement counts down the set time and, once it reaches zero, opens the electrical contact, cutting off power to the salamander at the end of the cooking cycle.
Technical features: 250V rating, bipolar contact rating 16(3)A, D-shaped ("mezzaluna") drive shaft Ø6x4.6 mm, 52x41 mm body, maximum operating temperature 110°C. Supplied complete with knob.
When the timer's spring no longer holds its charge, the countdown runs irregularly, or the contacts burn out and no longer break the circuit, the timer needs to be replaced.
