The clock scale belt is the flexible metal strip that, inside the mechanism of mechanical dial scales (without electronics), connects the weighing plate to the moving counterweight system. When a weight is placed on the plate, the belt flexes and transmits the movement to the counterweight masses, which in turn rotate the needle to indicate the weight on the dial.
