The auger is the endless screw that pulls and compresses the meat inside the Fama size 8 meat mincer, pushing it steadily towards the cutting unit made up of blade and plate. Made of aluminium, this spare part is dedicated to Fama size 8 meat mincers and fits inside the grinding body, where the rotation of the drive shaft sets it in motion.
With use, the auger wears in the area of the flights, the helical section that, in contact with the meat, generates the forward push towards blade and plate: when the flights wear down or become blunt, the push is reduced, grinding slows and the machine's output drops noticeably, with meat tending to heat up instead of being cleanly cut. Replacing the worn auger with this aluminium spare part, compatible with the Fama size 8 meat mincer, restores the correct meat push and the original grinding output.
