The hopper is the loading component through which fruit and vegetables are fed into the extractor's auger: on the Ektor this feed opening is designed to make it easier to load even fairly large pieces, reducing the need to cut food before extraction. This is the small version of the component, supplied complete and ready to fit.
With frequent use the hopper can become damaged, chipped, or lose its seal where it couples to the machine body: in these cases it should be replaced with the corresponding original spare part.
