On gravity slicers, the slice guard is the component positioned near the blade that accompanies and guides the slice as it comes out during cutting. With prolonged use, impacts or wear it can become deformed or damaged, affecting the evenness of the cut: in these cases it should be replaced with a part for the same model to restore correct slicer operation.
